Favorite Fall Foods

I love fall. It is by far my favorite season. I love the holidays, the changing of the leaves, the cooler weather, and of coarse the food! MSN listed the eight most fattening foods of fall. How many are you guilty of consuming?

1. Halloween Candy. I would say that I am pretty good about limiting my intake.

2. Mashed Potatoes. Who says this is a fall food? Give me a big bowl of mashed potatoes any time of year!

3. Pumpkin Spice Latte. No problem there.

4. Apple Pie. If you have ever had my mom's apple pie, then you would know that there is no way to resist!

5. Cider. Love it, but I really don't drink it a lot.

6. Stuffing. I don't care how many calories are in it, Thanksgiving would not be complete with out this delicious side dish. I always have seconds!

7. Candy Apple. Again I love them but don't have them very often. It has probably been 5 years since I had a candy apple.

8. Turducken. Never had it. Sounds kindof strange to me.

So there you go. There is definitely a lot of yummy food to partake of in the fall, and I say indulge! For me, there is nothing better on a cold fall day than a bowl of homemade soup. Soups and stews have to be my favorite fall food of all. I guess this is good because they are generally low in fat. But my question for all of you is...

What is your favorite fall food?

I am actually missing UT right now. It is so not fall here . . . today it was 85 degrees and humid. I guess our signs of fall would be dead brown grass and it is not over 100.
My favorite fall food is soup, especially Heather's Baked Potato Soup. I also love fall treats, like Pumpkin Cookies, Candy Corn, etc.

Ummm..yeah..I'm not so sure about that mashed potato thing. My favorite fall food has to be the soups. They warm the tummy and taste sooo good. Good post, thanks for sharing.

Mmmmm.....butternut squash soup! It's making my mouth water just thinking about it. I can't wait for Sunday when I'll be able to enjoy a bowl. Also, mashed potatoes-definitely one of my favorite fall foods....and winter, summer, and spring foods too!

I have too agree on the soups, especially when you put them in a bread bowl...Yummmmmmy! I really love mashed sweet potatoes over the white kind though, I just put salt on mine and eat them that way. As for sweet treats, my favorite has to be candy corns! I have to watch my intake because I could eat a whole bag!

What the crap is that last one? It sounds disgusting. I must say that I love most of those on your list. But when you eat it during a party or holiday dinner it doesn't have any calories. MSN sure is dumb to not know that... DUH!

To answer Sandy's question, a turducken is a chicken inside a duck inside a turkey! You get three in one. Like I said, sounds strange to me.

My favorite fall foods are definitely soups and stews! My husband laughs at me because every time it is dreary weather I make a different soup or stew along with rolls or bread bowls. I can't help it-I love how they make the house smell and how fun it is to eat hot stuff in cold weather! Oh, yeah-during fall I also love the smell of pumkins-so pumkin spice candles on the candle warmer all day are the best. (And x-mas scents during the holidays!) Yeah! It is getting me excited for all the upcoming holidays!

Soups and stews are winners! I love them too. Fall also gets me in the pie making mood (apple, pumpkin, pecan etc.) And it is fun to drink something warm like cider, wassail, or cocoa. Bring on the yummy food! Mom

All this talk of soups and stews reminds me of one of my favorite dishes for fall/winter. Chili. Slightly spicy, lots of onions, peppers, tomatoes, and beans. Of course, it must be served with corn tortillas or corn bread.
