SOLD!!

Our realtor called us yesterday afternoon with the news that we are officially under contract! HOLY COW that was fast!! We got an offer on Wednesday, which we countered, and they accepted! The best part is that we got our full asking price, which is not typical these days. We feel very fortunate. If it all goes through as planned, we will be out by June 12th - my 30th birthday! We only have four Saturdays to get everything packed, sold, stored, moved, and cleaned. Life just got a little busier :o)

I've Been Kinda Busy...

Yep, we're selling our home. We decided we need to take advantage of the extremely low interest rates and get into a more permanent home. We knew when we bought this house that it was our "starter home." At just 1523 sq. ft., it is pretty small and we are outgrowing it fast! I have a lot of mixed feelings about moving. I love our home - we have put a lot of work into it to make it "our home." There are a lot of memories within these walls. We also have great neighbors, and I have made some great friends here. Moving day will be a sad day. I hate change (which is why I live 5 minutes from where I grew up!). But, I am excited to get into a bigger home with more space and plenty of room to grow. It will be nice to be in a place where I can plant a tree and watch it grow for 15+ years.

Needless to say, life has gotten a bit hectic. We are in the process of repainting the basement and fixing a few things along the way. Hopefully we will finish it up tonight - maybe I should get off the computer and get back downstairs to help Bri :o) The sign went up on Saturday and it officially went on the market Monday morning. We have already had 4 showings, and #5 is tomorrow morning! I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

On another note, Mother's Day was wonderful. I love being a mom - it is the greatest joy and blessing in the world. Brian made me a yummy breakfast and my kiddos gave me a necklace with each of their birthstones on it. We got to listen to my parents speak in their sacrament meeting - what a treat! After church, we snacked on some cheese and crackers, but not just any cheese and crackers - Brian picked up a couple of specialty cheeses, and they were delightful! Oh, how I love cheese. We also spent some time with both Brian's mom and my mom. It was a great day.

The Return of "The Dog Food Test"

Just over one year ago was the ice cream vs. dog food test (if you don't know what I'm talking about click here). We decided a rematch was in order to see if Ashlyn's taste buds have changed any. She doesn't talk about dog food much these days, nor does she come running when we feed Cooper. Once again I took her to the grocery store and let her pick out the ice cream. This year she chose Ben & Jerry's Phish Food - chocolate ice cream with gooey marshmallow, caramel swirls, and fudge fish. Who won the battle? Watch and find out:

Yep, the dog food won again. She pushed the ice cream away, again. She doesn't even have to think about it. She doesn't even want to try the ice cream - THE ice cream that she personally picked out and held onto the whole way home from the store and kept asking if she could eat it only to be told repeatedly that she had to wait until after dinner. Dog food is turning out to be one tough competitor. Don't worry, there will be a rematch next year, every year in fact until she chooses the ice cream. I really hope that happens sometime before she turns 16. What will happen when her date asks her if she wants to go for some ice cream after dinner?

Here is what happened when I told her she could only have one more piece:

And then Dad tried to take it away:

So, did she want some ice cream once we took away the dog food? Nope. Only a glass of water to wash it all down, and then she was off to bed to dream sweet kibble dreams.

Need A Tissue?

Have you ever found yourself in need of a tissue, but did not have access to one? How did you remedy the situation? Maybe you discretely used your shirt sleeve or resorted to repeated sniffling. Or, if you are three and your name is Ashlyn, maybe you simply take off your underwear, wipe your nose with it, and then put your under things back on. Brilliant.

Disappointed

I went grocery shopping late last night, after the kids were tucked in bed and I had made my 2-week list. I am usually pretty good about sticking to the items on my list - I don't splurge very often. However, as I was going down the cracker isle to get both graham crackers and gold fish (two staples at our home), I spotted something too good to be true. I became an impulsive shopper and was (admittedly) a little giddy about my find. As soon as I got home, Brian and I broke open the package to indulge, only to be extremely, utterly disappointed.

Not the same thing. Not the same at all.

I appreciate that they tried, but Nabisco needs to go back to the research lab.
I miss Mother's.
