The Countdown: 5

Five weeks from today is my due date! I had my appointment on Tuesday and here is the update: I am dilated to a 1 plus, I am 50% effaced, and the baby is breech. I was excited to find out that I had started dilating because I have been having a lot of contractions - they have been waking me up at night. I am not so excited about the breech part. I have to go back next week and my doctor will check to see if the baby has rotated. She told me to try getting on my hands and knees and rocking my hips back and forth. I did this last night and I felt a little silly. It didn't help that Brian laughed at me! If the baby hasn't turned by next week then the doctor will have to try and turn it. I won't go into details, but this does not sound like a pleasant experience! Hopefully it will not come to that.

Oh man! Keep rockin' those hips cuz I wouldn't want a doctor to go up there and turn the baby for me. Ewwww. Tell Brian to can it :)

Cute pic Jame. So sorry about the breach baby. He'll turn around. Maybe if you do summersaults? :)

Esther's baby was face-down when she was in labor, and the doctors turned her over THREE TIMES. Each time she returned to her original position. You gotta let those kids know who's the boss!! :)

5 weeks! Wow it will be here before you know it. So I noticed that Monica wrote "he'll turn around" is "He" an announcement??? Did you find out what you're having...?

Well you look great!!!

I think that Monica is just hoping for a boy. We still do not know what we are having & I really don't have any feelings one way or the other. Whether it is a boy or a girl it will be a surprise to me!

Braxton was breech and they tried to turn him. It was the worst experience of my life. I think labor is less pain than this experience. What the doctor does is put his hands on the top of your stomach and he cranks down really hard and tries to turn the baby around. The monitor is hooked up to you to monitor the baby's heartrate during this time. Needless to say I had a C-section three weeks later. Hopefully your baby will turn around. If it comes down to trying to turn your baby ask your doctor how often that even works. Then decide if it is worth it. Good luck.
