Ashlyn and Trent were able to participate in two hunts this year. They scored plenty of candy, enough for me to indulge and treat myself to plenty of sugary goodness. Easter is hands-down my favorite candy season. You can't find better candy at any other time of year, and I have no self-control.
Our second hunt was unfortunately rained out, so we held it indoors. We sticker-coded the eggs and treats so that each kid had to find their given sticker, and we put their assigned sticker on their hands as a helpful reminder. I actually liked this method because the hunt lasted longer than five minutes and it was more of a game for the kids.
And just in case you are wondering about Ashlyn's outfit, she was all dolled up when we arrived at the party, wearing a cute purple dress that Grandpa Smiley bought for her. However, Ashlyn drenched herself with chocolate milk during dinner, so we had to improvise with Trent's vest since I didn't bring any back-up clothes.
The Easter Bunny came on Sunday to deliver baskets of goodies for the kids, even though they really did not need anything else by that point. Ashlyn got another pony (surprise, surprise) and Trent got a Woody doll.
There is some background information I need to give about Trent's gift. Several months ago, we got a copy of Toy Story (another gift from Grandpa Smiley) and Trent became obsessed with it. Not a day went by that Trent didn't request "Woody". He would get so excited when I turned it on and would sit and watch it from start to finish without moving more than a few inches. He was completely enthralled. So, I had the great idea to get him a Woody doll for Easter. I assumed he would LOVE it. Boy was I wrong.
I don't know if he thought it is going to come alive or what, but that dang doll (which was NOT cheap by the way) scared him to the point of tears. It has gotten a little better - he doesn't cry anymore, but he still won't touch it and wants nothing to do with it. Plus, he has not asked to watch "Woody" since Sunday.
We did the traditional dyeing of the eggs. Ashlyn thought this was great fun and was quite upset when we ran out of eggs to color.
The kids got all dressed up for church in their new digs courtesy of Grandma Lifferth (Ashlyn's dress) and Grandpa Smiley (Trent's outfit). Unfortunately Trent was not feeling well after church and slept through the photo shoot. He looked like a stud, so I'll have to get some pics of him next Sunday. Even though I tried my hardest, I could not get Ashlyn to smile or even look at the camera.
Here is what a little photoshop will do; I still have so much to learn, but this was fun:

Cute pics! Love Ashlyn's dress. Poor Trent and Woody, it sounded like they would have been the best of friends, maybe in due time.
Oh my gosh, those pictures are ADORABLE! Ashlyn is darling no matter what! I loved all your pictures! Looks like you all had a great Easter - except for that funny Woody incident. That's too bad! Cute Trent!
Ok.. what kind of camera do you use? I need one! I loved the pictures. I only wish I could get owen to watch a movie for more than 30 seconds.. it would make those echos and hospital stays so much sweeter.
Love the Woody incident! So glad you captured it on camera.
HAPPY EASTER (late)
I love ashlyn's dress ;) Your pics are so great, even w/an uncooperative toddler!
Sorry about Old Blue, then again, if you wanted to get rid of it a long time ago, I guess it's really congrats!
UPDATE: Trent asked for Woody this morning and is watching it right now! Maybe he will learn to love the doll.
LOL to the woody doll. Kennedy was obsessed with Toy Story for a while- so we have a Woody AND Buzz doll. She was never afraid of them... that is hilarious (and sad) that Trent was afraid of Woody :( He'll warm up to him, soon. Especially if he's watching the movie, now!
And Ashlyn looks so beautiful. Good job with the photo shop. Looks fantastic!
I can not believe that Trent does not like Woody. I am shocked!!
The pictures of Ahlyn turned out very cute despite her not smiling or looking at the camera.
How funny about the Woody incident. Don't you just wonder what is going thru his mind? Kids are so surprising sometimes. And your photos are beautiful...you did an awesome job with the last photo, too. :)
Great pics and great stories! (Especially the woody story and old blue!) Oh, and Ashlyn's dress is super cute too!!
Sounds like the grandparents are doing a great job in keeping the kids in cute clothes and movies, lol! I am sure Brian had a hey-day tormenting my poor little guy with that Woody doll! Why is a child's fear so amusing to adults? Such cute pictures and I love your photo-shop, very cool!
I love that last picture! So cute! I was also cracking up at poor trent and the woody doll...poor kid!
Great recoloring Jame. The pics of ashlyn are adorable. Hey we have Buzz if you guys want to borrow him for awhile. We love Trenters. He is such a sweetie.
The new camera is coming in quite handy!!!! Love all the adorable pictures!
Wow you need to teach me how to do photo shop!
She's so pretty, even though she loves worms.. Weird child - must take after her father.
Cute photos and cute Easter Outfits. Where was yours?
Can you please teach me how to do that little trick with the coloring? Did you use a mask?
