Big Sister

Since the day I found out I was pregnant, I have wondered how Ashlyn will react to the 'new baby'. It has made me sad a few times thinking about how this will affect her. Ashlyn has been my world for the past 20 months and now she will have some competition. Soon I will not be able to give her all my time and attention. I have tried to talk to her about the baby, but really she has no idea what is coming. When I ask her where the baby is she will point to my belly.

She likes to give the baby hugs...

and kisses.

She is such a sweet girl. My hope is that she will still feel loved and will always know how important she is to us. All in all, I think she will love being a big sister and she will be a great one.

She will do great as a big sister! It will definitely be an adjustment at first and you will feel bad but just remember that babies sleep a lot and you can utilize that special time with Ashlynn. Before you know it, they will be playing together and it will be so much fun having two kids (I was going to say girl because that's what I think it is!) close together! Good luck! I can't believe you haven't had it yet-I guess I was wrong in predicting when it will come!

I was super worried about Karlee when I had Addi. But Karlee did so well. Just give cute lil' ashabell (as Karlee calls her) lots of love when you can and have her help with the baby too!
PS - You still have an hour or so to have this baby today!

Don't worry Jamie. Children are very resilient. There may be a few fussy minutes but that won't last too long. Brian will be there to pick up some slack and don't forget...there is always Grandma and Grandpa ready, willing, and able to lavish tons of attention on Ashlyn. All you need to do is say the word.

Oh man, those pictures made me cry. It was and still is hard for me to not give Madi all my attention. My poor little girl who used to not be able to take a nap unless I laid down by her now naps alone a lot :(. It breaks my heart when I see her laying on the couch all by herself. But, she is so sweet, even when she wants mommy and her sister does too, she'll tell me to hold Maya because 'she needs mommy'. Even though I am still with Madi all the time I miss our one-on-one time. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade Maya for anything, but it is an adjustment and I still worry about Madi knowing that I still love her just as much.
I'm excited for Ashlyn to have a sibling. She will be such a cute big sister!!
It makes it all worth it to see how excited Madi gets when Maya smiles at her. I love it!

Oh Jame. I'm feeling for you right now. In a way it is nice to see you and Mindy going through the same emotions that I have felt. I guess it kindof gives us a bond. It is hard and I often cried for Ben when Maggie was born.

I remember at the hospital feeling so sad for Ben and just wanting to hold him. All those emotions came back to me when Reagan came along, then Maya.

Just like Ruth said, take advantage of when the baby is sleeping and soon they will playing and fighting so here is a *squeeze* because I know what you're going through. :)

How sad...I never thought about this before! I mean, I know it's kinda hard for the firstborn, but it never occurred to me how hard it would be for the mom! It's kinda heartbreaking!

Are you having your baby right now???

I also had these same feeling before I had Charley-they will pass and you'll look at your life in a year or so and forget what life was like with just one child. It will be nice for you having family so close because they will definitely be able to do some extra 'spoiling' :)

Ashlyn will be a wonderful big sister and will hopefully adore little Smiley. I think that one thing that helped us was that Charlotte 'brought' Paige home a present-I'm sure you have heard that before but I think that it worked for us.

Good Luck and keep us posted!!

These pictures are precious :) I'm glad you captured them. Then when your kids starting fighting like Maggie and Ben you can show them these pics and say "See, you liked each other once. Now hug."

P.S. Brian's costume is classic. I'm so going to give him crap about the shaved legs though...
